About
"Implementation of the Strategic Action Program of the Gulf of Mexico Large Marine Ecosystem" (GoM-LME) is a five-year binational initiative between Mexico and the United States of America, entrusted for its implementation to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The main objective of this Project is to improve water quality, rehabilitate the costal and marine ecosystems, and avoid depletion of marine resources in the GoM-LME.
These goals will be achieved with an investment by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) with a co-financing by Mexico and the US, through the implementation of three action components improving water quality, recovering depleted stocks of living marine resources and addressing the dual challenge of conservation and restauration of the ecosystem. Additionally, one management component was included with the aim of supporting an active project monitoring and evaluation by UNIDO, and the widest possible dissemination of results and lessons learned.
